Hike #8

Hike #8 was the Waterfall Loop at Uvas Canyon.  We took Waterfall loop to Contour Trail and the down Alec Canyon trail.  About 3 miles.

We saw three waterfalls although I apparently only got pictures of two.  This hike made me believe my kids might actually have the hiking gene after all.  Up until this point, group hikes ended in tears.  On this day, a great time was had by all....especially mommy!!!

Hike #7

Hike #7 was a kid friendly hike up Harvey Bear Trail to an amazing climbing tree.  The trip is about 2 miles altogether.  Somewhat steep up but super easy back.  I can easily talk my kids into this one because of the tree.

We just took Harvey Bear trail up to the tree then went back the same way.

Hike #6

Hike #6 was our anniversary hike at Calero county park. Somehow I managed to talk Daddy into a 6 mile hike. We had a great time and Daddy pointed out that even when it was steep and we were huffing and was still better than hearing whining.

Gorgeous views on this hike of San Jose.

There is even a real live bat cave (Serpentine trail) on this hike.  Daddy wanted to throw a rock at it but he wisely decided not to.  I am deathly afraid of bats.

Hike:  Access trail>Los Cerritos trail>Pena trail>Serpentine Loop trail>Figueroa trail.  About 6 miles

Hike #5

Hike #5 was more of a nature adventure. The boys and I played around in the creek with Pa looking for newts and then we hiked a bit up Ridge trail at Mt Madonna. My guess is we hiked a total of a mile or two.

Hike #4

Hike #4 was just the boys and I. I picked an easy trail because I was wearing Luca and I get nervous. I wanted to stay close to people and rangers stations in case anything happened.

We hiked at Mt Madonna and took Ridge Rd to Loop trail to Lower Miller.  At the beginning of Loop trail there was a sign that some trails were closed but it said for October of last year so we continued.  Imagine my surprise when we were getting a little tired and got to where Lower miller was and saw chain link fences.  Fortunately, Lower Miller was open.  The whole trail was around a mile and toward the end Buddy said "I think we walked a little too far mama"

Good thing we were hiking to his favorite place, the Miller house remains.  It also helped I packed snacks.
